Tim and Alex’s wedding day was another core memory to added to their list for Ann Arbor, the city where they first met. Their wedding was iconic, memorable, and completely authentic. Tim and Alex live in LA and they had a lot of friends and family travelling in for their wedding. They wanted it to be a weekend focusing on hospitality while staying true to their vibe and style. Planning with these two and seeing their wedding day unfold was seriously a dream. Tim and Alex are so incredibly kind, thoughtful, fun, genuine and they deserved every minute of this amazing day. The historic Michigan Union was the ideal setting to incorporate their modern, dinner club vibe while mixing in details that are uniquely them.
Arriving for the ceremony, guests were greeted with bingo cards and pencils, organized by friends. It’s become a tradition within their crew and even the couple doesn’t get to know what’s on the bingo cards. (There were several bingos throughout the night!) The ceremony was officiated by Tim’s sister, Maggie, which made it all the more special. During which, the couple shared heartfelt vows that had everyone equally laughing and misty-eyed. As a surprise, the couple wanted to tape their ring bag under a random guest’s seat for them to bring up during the ceremony. As directed by Tim and Alex, we hid their wedding rings underneath one of the ceremony chairs and only told their photographer. It just so happened that the guest whose seat they were under was just married a few weeks earlier and Tim officiated their wedding- it couldn’t have been more perfect!
Following the ceremony, guests headed down the hall to the Rogel Ballroom. Tim and Alex wanted to include maize and blue into their designs, but without having it be too direct. Deep navy linens paired with gold chiavari chairs set the table backdrop. Gold votive candles and a chrome gold table lamp highlighted the table with pops of white from floral bud vases. It evoked an intimate and cozy feel as the evening wore on. The tables were named after locations that meant a lot to the couple and were displayed in metal starbursts in lieu of a traditional holder. After cocktail hour, the couple opened toasts with a thank you, followed by entertaining toasts from Tim’s siblings and Alex’s friends.
Guests enjoyed cake from Zingerman’s Bakehouse with carrot cake and cocoa velvet flavors, always a crowd-pleaser! Elysium Experience opened the dance floor with Alex and Tim’s first dance and dances with their moms then everyone poured onto the floor for a group photo! Maggie, Tim’s sister, surprised the couple with giant cardboard cutouts of their dog, Darla. It was so fun to see Darla be a part of the group photo as well! There’s so much to love about this couple and this day, it was a pleasure to be a part of their wedding!
Congratulations to Alex and Tim! Wishing you so much happiness and love!
