Family. That’s what November 5th was all about. The love they have for each other, their children, their families, and their friends could be felt from miles away. It was truly a joy to work with them and witness them become husband and wife with their two children by their sides.
Larissa and Michael dreamed of an outdoor ceremony in front of Cornman Farm’s white farmhouse and the weather held off just long enough to make that dream come true. Larissa was escorted down the aisle by her father, Mark, as the string quartet played “So This is Love.” It was such a heartfelt ceremony, officiated by the pastor of their church, Marvin Walker.
After the ceremony, guests were greeted at the red barn with passed appetizers of savory feta kisses, mushroom kisses, and latke triangles. Inside the barn, the most incredible signature fall mocktails were served, including Pumpkin Chai, Fall Spritz, and Autumnal Punch hand crafted by Zingerman’s. Everyone was invited to play yard games while they mingled and the friendly and photogenic goats of Cornman Farms made their appearance and are always a guest favorite.
As guests made their way into the reception tent, they were greeted by soft candlelight, lush greenery, and bud vases filled with bold fall colors. Unfortunately, our time in the reception tent was short lived as Gale showed up, gale force winds that is! We quickly made the decision to move everyone inside the red barn before dinner was served. Larissa and Michael’s friends and family along with the amazing staff of Cornman Farms sprung into action and helped us move all of the tables, chairs, and decor inside. It was truly an incredible team effort. The tables and decor were placed in record time. 50+ mph winds weren’t going to stop this celebration!
As everyone was settled safely inside, plated meals of Atlantic roasted salmon, lemon and thyme chicken, and warm fall farro were served. We had all done a lot of work in that short period of time and a warm, delicious meal was just what was needed. As the evening continued, dessert was served and it did not disappoint. Choices included carrot cake with ginger icing and vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream and fresh fruit, and townie brownie with salted caramel buttercream. That wasn’t all though, in keeping with the fall theme, they offered a variety of seasonal pies; pecan, jumbleberry, lemon meringue, and apple. It was incredible.
Upstairs in the barn was such a relaxed, family oriented atmosphere with every board game you can think of and a photo booth. There were some pretty intense Uno games going on while they enjoyed a late night snack of mini reubens and s’mores bites. It was so much fun! As the night came to an end, everyone was given cider and donuts from Dexter Cider Mill. It was such a nice treat to end the most unforgettable day.
