Katy and Spencer’s Ann Arbor fall wedding day at the Michigan Theater is what cinema and theatre lovers dream of. On an October afternoon in Ann Arbor, the city seemed to pause for Spencer and Katy. The historic Michigan Theater rose like a grand old storyteller. Its marquee glowing brightly against the dusk, announcing to the world: “One Day Only — Then Forever: Katy & Spencer.” It felt less like a sign and more like a promise.
Inside, the theatre breathed history. Inside the theatre were ornate details that curved and gleamed under warm lights and a quiet hum. As guests entered the theater, the massive screen on stage flickered to life.
Katy-and-Spencer themed trivia played across the screen. It included favorite memories, inside jokes, and moments that had led them here. The room filled with warmth and anticipation, the kind that comes from shared stories and shared love.
As the ceremony began, the Michigan Theater’s iconic organ filled the space, instantly transforming the moment into something cinematic. Spencer and his wedding party made their entrance to the sweeping theme from Jurassic Park. The music echoed through the theatre, setting a dramatic and joyful tone.
After, the room shifted again as the opening notes of “The Throne Room” from Star Wars rang out. Then Katy appeared, radiant and confident, her entrance commanding both emotion and awe. It was powerful, emotional, and unmistakably them.
Their vows echoed gently through the theater—words spoken with intention and tenderness. The couple promised laughter and patience, adventure and home. During their vows, they also promised a steady love on ordinary days and unwavering support when life asked more of them. A space that had hosted decades of iconic performances now held one of its most meaningful moments yet.
After they were pronounced married, the applause rose like a standing ovation. The overture from The Phantom of the Opera as it sent Katy and Spencer off into their new chapter together.
Later as the night settled, the marquee glowed again—one day only, then forever—celebrating right alongside them.
The reception unfolded like a favorite film, beautifully paced and full of heart. Tables were marked with photos of Spencer and Katy dressed up in past Halloween costumes. Each one sparking stories, smiles, and laughter as guests found their seats. Dinner and desserts were provided by Frita Batidos, an Ann Arbor favorite. The meal filled the room with bold flavors and the comfort of a local staple. It perfectly reflecting the couple’s love for the city they call home.
As the evening continued, DJ Ryan took over and brought the energy to the dance floor. From the first song to the final beat, guests packed the floor, laughter echoing through the theatre. As the night came to a close, the Michigan Theater stood once more as a witness. It represented not just a wedding day, but the beginning of a marriage rooted in love, joy, and shared history.
And like the Michigan Theater itself; timeless, storied, and full of soul. Spencer and Katy’s love felt destined to be remembered.
Congratulations Spencer & Katy!
