Magic unfurling in the air, dancing on your lips, brushing against your skin as you walk out into the dark night. Audrey and Jacob’s intimate and romantic Northern Michigan wedding experience was a dream realized.
The dark and cloudy skies set the ideal tone for this moody themed wedding day. Audrey and Jacob got ready together in guest lodging at their wedding venue, The Mill located in beautiful Glen Arbor. To begin the day, Audrey spent time with her sister and mom, while Jake played Magic, the Gathering with close friends in the venue. The winding river and dark pines set the scene for the couple’s first look. The couple’s custom wedding looks embraced so much of their individual personalities and style.
A bagpiper played outside of the Mill and catering staff handed out sparkling wine as arrived for the ceremony. The couple, their family and their Rabbi signed the Ketubah and had a meaningful time together before starting the ceremony. The Mill’s main level transformed into a romantic ceremony scene with gold heart candelabras with dripping candles, chuppah and soft seating intermixed into the audience. Their vows were so authentic, loving and passionate. Jacob and Audrey are so true to themselves and each other. Cheers erupted as they smashed the glass and kissed! After the ceremony, guests headed upstairs for cocktail hour and to enjoy formal portrait sessions. The couple sourced stunning leather masks for guests to use for their portraits and dancing. The portraits were then printed and placed into custom envelopes that were handed out as a surprise during dancing.
One unique element were the bespoke playing cards were assigned to each guest during cocktail hour for portraits. Guests then were able to match those cards to one placed at their seat in the dining level. It was a warm and cozy atmosphere was accented with unique candlesticks and floral bud vases. Those beautiful bud vases were made by Audrey! The Mill provided a delectable family course dining experience for everyone. After several courses had been served, Audrey read a meaningful poem followed by her dad, who gave a speech. Our team transformed the main level for dancing and lounges. We arranged soft seating around the room and set out the leather masks for guests to don for dancing.
Audrey and Jacob made their grand entrance for their first dance in custom masks and then the rest of the evening flowed into the night. Dessert was a family favorite of Sissons Bakery carrot cake and cookies from the Mill along with a custom brewed coffee from Jacob. The movie Labyrinth was the initial inspiration for their wedding day, cue the ballroom scene! It was only fitting that David Bowie’s songs from the movie closed out the night. It was a magical experience from start to finish and it was a dream to be a part of.
Congratulations to Audrey & Jacob- we wish you so much love and happiness!
