Michigan set quite the mood for Katie and Robyn’s October wedding day. Bringing in a mix of contrasting clouds, sunny skies and even rain clouds- it was an ever changing scene that ultimately was the perfect wedding day for this amazing couple. After meeting at a networking event at a conference several years ago, Robyn and Katie found that connecting thread in each other that had led them to their person. It was beyond a pleasure to be a part of their wedding day and witness the raw emotions of love, friendship, excitement, gratefulness, inclusion and support that was woven into their wedding day.
Robyn and Katie got ready with their friends during the day in the farmhouse at Zingerman’s Cornman Farms. I am not sure if I have ever seen such a fashionable pair and hands-down some of my favorite wedding looks ever! Both Katie and Robyn have such a strong sense of self and it really shone-through in their outfit selections for that day as well. The festivities began with a welcome hour, where guests mingled, visited the bar and enjoyed appetizers such as homity pies and kachumba salads. Signature drinks that day had a fall-festive vibe with choices between a greyhound fizz and autumn daiquiri. These two have no shortage of amazingly talented friends, from the live music duo that played for their welcome hour to the singer and pianist for their ceremony, their officiants and florist as well.
Their intimate ceremony took place in the historic barn in front of a fireplace surrounded by vases of pampas grass, candles and all of their loved ones. Their ceremony was written by their good friends, Anna and Rushi, and included a special poem that was written by Rushi and meaningful vows written by the couple. It was powerful to witness the love outpouring between Katie and Robyn and from their community. Following the ceremony, guests made their way to the reception tent, which was filled with bistro lights, taupe taper candles in glass sleeves and assorted bud vases. It was such a minimalist and romantic scene! After the couple gave a sweet thank you toast to their guests, dinner stations opened and featured a menu with cider and rosemary roasted hen rosti, hot smoked salmon crumpets, cassoulet vert and so many more amazing options. As guests dined, three special toasts were given to Katie and Robyn by their friends and sisters. Then delicious cake options of chocolate cake with buttercream frosting, coconut cake with passion fruit, apple spice cake and hummingbird cake were brought out. Then Robyn and Katie opened up the dance floor with their first dance- both rocking a fun pair of dancing shoes and Robyn had changed into a jumpsuit that she had made. Then they danced the night away! This pair and this day will forever be full of amazing memories!
Congratulations to Robyn and Katie- you deserve nothing but the best!
