Julie and Mark tied the knot in September in downtown Detroit and we were so happy to be a part of their big day! To start, Julie is a friend and it is always so humbling when friend’s ask you to help plan their big day. Plus her and Mark are adorable, Mark proposed last year after Julie completed a marathon at the finish line surrounded by her family, it was so sweet. During her toast, Julie’s sister, Cindy, described Julie as someone who leaves a trail of sparkles wherever she goes. We couldn’t agree more, but would like to add that together her and Mark are a whole damn fireworks show!
For the ladies, the wedding day started with beauty appointments at Chez Lou Lou followed by a low-key brunch at a favorite diner. Then getting ready pictures took place at Greektown Hotel in downtown Detroit. The couple had their first look nearby at Astoria Bakery, a favorite spot for them with many special memories. Detroit Bus Company took the bridal party around downtown with Exciting Productions and Lighting with Love Photography capturing some amazing footage. All things leading up to their special ceremony!
Their ceremony and reception were held at The Whiskey Factory with custom signage designed by the couple, leading guests along the way. Wood cross back chairs, glass lanterns with candles and a geometric arch from Modernly Events draped with greenery set the scene for their ceremony. Julie and Mark’s ceremony was officiated by their person of honor, Holli and best man, Mark, which was filled to the brim with laughter, tears, and all of the feels. Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the lower level featuring some mouth-watering appetizers from their caterer, Slow’s BBQ and custom cocktails from the Whiskey Factory.
While cocktail hour took place the ceremony to reception transformation took place, sweeping into place wood tables from Detroit Chiavari with romantic candlelight, chiffon runners and brass accents. Cinderella’s Wedding DJ’s kept the dance floor packed with the couple’s fave tunes all night and helped to orchestrate a special performance for the formal dances. Julie and Mark had two members of their bridal party sing the songs for their formal dances live! (And it went off without a hitch thanks to some advanced planning with our vendor team!) For dessert, Westview Orchards provided frosted and sprinkle donuts displayed on custom glass stands created by the bride’s mother. ShutterBooth’s slim kiosk photo booth allowed for guests to automatically share their favorites from the evening directly to social media. The whole evening featured meaningful details carefully curated by the couple and their families and it was an honor to be included in that.
Congratulations to Julie and Mark, may your 90’s playlist never end!
