Alyssa and Rob’s wedding day was definitely one for the books! I cannot say enough about these two wonderful people! It was also beyond evident how much they loved each other and were loved by their family and friends.
Now residing in California among the sand and the surf, these two easy-going lovers chose to have their wedding day in the Michigan to be near friends/family and in the state where they first meet. While Alyssa’s two bridesmaids, Stacy and Marissa gave a great retelling of the couple first meeting in college during their toasts, it can only be said that that sparks flew!
Michigan did not disappoint with it’s dreary fall weather on their wedding day, serving us all sorts of moods and rain. Thankfully though, our couple was able to have their first look and take their bridal party pictures outside without any rain. Then the waterworks turned on right as the ceremony began (inside!) at the Belle Isle Conservatory Showroom, which was an incredibly lush backdrop for their intimate ceremony. Alyssa and Rob included the sweetest nods to their favorite fantasy movies throughout their wedding. Rob had a “leaves of Lorien” pin on his lapel and Alyssa walked down the aisle to the song “Concerning Hobbits” from Lord of the Rings (meanwhile I sobbed my little nerd heart out in the background.)
Their reception was held at the The Whiskey Factory, where guests were greeted with custom cocktails and a hot pretzel appetizer station from Kristina’s Catering. Tables were decorated with navy linens, mauve accents and mahogany chiavari chairs from Event Theory . Lanterns were stacked on vintage books curated by the couple. Some of the books included our couple’s favorite authors and fantasy novels. Everyone enjoyed an incredible dinner from Kristina’s Catering and had fun with props in the photo booth by Rock the Booth. Following dinner, our couple cut into a pie made by love from the father of the bride! Then guests enjoyed apple cheddar and salted maple hand pies from Sister Pie (both flavors were amazing, quality testing is taken very seriously over here.) Gary from 1, 2 Step Entertainment kept that dance floor packed throughout the night including some polka dancing (for the bride’s family) and a sweet serenade for Alyssa from Rob and his fraternity brothers.
“And now Harry, let us step out into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.” Albus Dumbledore
Congratulations to Alyssa and Rob, never stop adventuring and wandering!
