For Courtney and Chris, it was an easy choice on picking out where to get married. They wanted to create an intimate garden atmosphere for their guests in the city that they loved. We truly enjoyed planning with this wonderful couple to help pull together their wedding details! Our bride, Courtney, explains their wedding vision further below;
“Our vision was to create an experience for our family and friends that was uniquely us, marrying exquisite elegance and classic cool. We achieved this through stitching together all the things we love – both tangible and intangible and focusing on details. Our program books were crisp black and white, heavy to the touch, finished with hunter green grosgrain, and featured our print brand we developed for the event. We used classical selections from Bach and Haydn among others for the ceremony that pulled at everyone’s heartstrings while blending the film scores of The Holiday and the deep voice of Jerry Butler to during dinner for a cool euphoria. Our love of food drove our venue choice, The Gandy Dancer provided the perfect ambiance of amazing eats and drinks with an outdoor intimate setting.”
Their June 23rd wedding was perfectly timed to include one of Courtney’s favorite wedding details; peonies! These lush blooms were included in all of the bouquets and centerpieces by Red Poppy Floral Design. The centerpieces also include full white hydrangea heads, garden roses and airy greens alternating with unique glass hurricanes and glowing pillar candles. The ceremony took place at the historic St. Joseph Village Church in downtown Dexter with a bubble send off for the bride and the groom! The day was perfectly overcast which yielded to stunning photos by Holden Photo of the couple and their bridal party at the U of M Law Quad.
Courtney and Chris’s reception was filled with special details that helped to enhance their intimate wedding experience. They chose a lovely summer cake flavor of smooth vanilla buttercream cake with strawberry accents from Sweet Heather Anne. Their table numbers highlighted some of their favorite places in Michigan and around the world. Courtney and Chris also love candid moments, not only for their photos, but for their guests as well! In leiu of a traditional guestbook, they opted for a Polaroid guestbook for their guests to leave candid pictures and well wishes. Another one of their unique details were scented candles and favors made by a friend of the bride. Courtney noted that, “We topped our reception off with custom scented soap, topped with monogrammed gold wax seals commemorating the day, and candles pulling a page from the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding by infusing the space with Orange Blossom and Thyme.”
Congratulations Courtney & Chris, we know that your lives with will be filled with so much love and adventure!
