Real Wedding Story: Jen & Rob

What an amazing summer day to celebrate Jen and Rob’s wedding! In true Michigan fashion, we were checking the radar all day long only for the weather patterns to change and for us to logistically dance around them. One pattern throughout the day that held true through was this couple’s love for each other and the tremendous amount of love and support from their family and friends. 

Their outdoor wedding ceremony took place in front of the lake at Waldenwoods’ historic Cromaine Lodge. The weather held off for Jen and Rob to share their vows underneath a pergola adorned with flowers and greenery in front of all of their loved ones. Jen also designed ceremony program fans for their guests and those were such a hit! Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a little bit of time in the sun for their outdoor cocktail hour, before the rain started up and everyone made tracks for the lodge. Thankfully we had anticipated these moves and already had the reception space fully ready to receive their guests. Then the bar reopened and appetizer service began inside while everyone mingled and had appetizers from Waldenwoods. Rob is a huge Notre Dame football fan and they had a custom “Marry like a Champion today” board for guests to sign. Thankfully the rain let up and the couple and their wedding party were able to get some amazing photos during the rest of the cocktail hour. 

The reception space was a dream filled with lush centerpieces, glowing candles and intricate linen accents. Everything paired together so well thanks to Jen’s vision and the hard work from the team at Ruby Slipper Design. The rest of the evening had such a natural flow to it and guests were able to enjoy the outdoor lawn space and the 77 VW Photo Booth Bus as well! After kicking off the dance floor with the couple’s first dance; it was non-stop until the last song! Then everyone came outside to get organized for the sparkler exit while Jen and Rob shared their last song together. Then they ended the night running through a glowing tunnel of sparklers! It was truly a pleasure to be a part of this amazing day and work with this sweet couple!
